Garry has been resident in the Cayman Islands since February 1998, following on from a successful career in commercial mapping, freelance GIS (Geographical Information System) consultancy, and petroleum exploration consultancy support in the UK. Garry was recruited by the Cayman Islands Government and served for 13 years with the Lands & Survey Department, initially as Programmer/Analyst for the Land Information System and from 2004 as GIS Manager for the department. During this period Garry authored the first and second editions of the Cayman Islands Street Atlas, and developed the highly successful “MapLink” application, which allowed customers to directly access the Land Registry Block, Parcel and ownership information for the first time. This was then further developed into the award winning online access portal Cayman Land Info. During Garry’s service, the department was recognized twice with the Special Achievement in GIS award by the Environment Systems Research Institute (ESRI), the leading provider of GIS technologies in the world.

In 2011, Garry joined the Dart organization as GIS Manager, and transformed the way the organization managed land information, both for the company’s own property portfolio and for researching potential property acquisitions. Garry also introduced drone technology to the company, establishing an aerial imagery capture capability in support of the real estate construction development programs. The drone program is now a fundamental tool that supports each construction project through the supply of high resolution, up to date oblique angled and orthomosaic aerial imagery, on a regular cycle throughout the project life cycle.

In October 2019, Garry formed G2Spatial, a geospatial consultancy offering GIS, mapping, and aerial imaging services to the construction, tourism, insurance, agricultural industries as well as a number of government departments.

Garry graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Geography from the University of Derby, and with a Postgraduate diploma in Cartography from the University of Glasgow. Garry is a certified drone pilot and is accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority for the provision of drone services.
